April Showers

We’re halfway into Easter weekend, and so far it’s been 48 hours of rain.

The plan for the weekend had been to fire up the chainsaws and clear some small trees, large shrubs, and a whole lot of overhanging branches around the vegetable garden. I’d hoped that a late Easter this year would mean a useful long weekend to help take care of all those Spring jobs that never seem to get done.

Instead, we stayed warm and dry, and bottled our first ever batch of maple syrup.

Happy Caturday…

… from our new stray. This little cutie adopted us a few days ago, and has been bedding down in the woodshed.

Kitty smells like a barn, but is very affectionate.

We’re not looking to adopt another stray, but I’m ok with an outdoor mouser. I saw a rat in the chicken coop a week ago. Maybe we can get kitty to move in with the chickens.
